Phishing pages, fake executive profiles, leaked credentials on the dark web – most attacks take shape long before they reach your network. Yet traditional security largely focuses on what happens after that boundary. Infoblox is taking a different approach.

With its Protective DNS platform, Infoblox has spent years building what it calls preemptive security: detecting and blocking threats before they cause damage, using DNS traffic as an early warning mechanism. It works – but it has a blind spot. The external attack surface, the world of social platforms, app stores, fake websites and the dark web, lies beyond the reach of DNS-based detection.

The acquisition of Axur closes that gap. Axur is an AI-powered external threat detection platform that scans more than 40 million URLs daily for phishing, brand abuse, executive impersonation and exposed credentials. What sets it apart is not just detection, but action: Axur automates the takedown of attacker infrastructure and feeds its findings directly into Infoblox Threat Defense, blocking malicious destinations while takedowns are still in progress.

The result is a closed loop: external signals are translated into immediate network protection, including visibility into which internal assets are reaching out to identified threats – all within minutes of discovery.

Axur also enriches the Infoblox Threat Intel portfolio with complementary data sources and expertise. Where Infoblox excels at understanding threats through DNS, Axur brings knowledge of how threats emerge and evolve across the broader digital ecosystem. Together, the two perspectives deliver better attribution and earlier detection – particularly as attackers use AI to scale phishing and fraud campaigns globally.

Longer term, Axur forms the foundation of Infoblox Exposure Management, a framework for Continuous Threat Exposure Management that will expand over the coming months. Security shifts from a series of isolated detection moments to an ongoing, measurable approach to reducing risk across the full attack surface.
