From idea to platform
At the beginning of 2025, Matvey Teplov and I started a Proof of Concept with a clear but ambitious goal: to explore whether we could build an open, integrated, and highly automated platform that would serve as the backbone of our Managed Services. Not by developing yet another proprietary piece of software, but by intelligently combining existing, best‑of‑breed tools into a single, coherent whole.
During this POC phase, we tested extensively, experimented boldly, and—most importantly—learned a great deal. We discovered where integrations caused friction and where they created acceleration. This phase laid the foundation for what would later become the Nomios Autoflow Services Platform.
What is Autoflow?
Autoflow stands for Automation and Workflow—and the name captures its essence perfectly. Autoflow is not a monolithic, home‑grown platform. It is a framework and a carefully curated collection of tools that are tightly integrated. That integration is essential: it is where the magic happens and where real value is created for our customers.
By automating processes end‑to‑end and orchestrating workflows intelligently, we create transparency, predictability, and scalability. Autoflow therefore acts as the OSS (Operational Support System) underpinning the delivery of our Managed Services.
An open and future‑ready foundation
From day one, the vision was clear: Autoflow had to be open, extensible, and future‑proof. The platform provides a solid foundation for innovation in the years ahead, including AI‑driven and agentic workflows. Tools such as n8n play an important role here—but always as part of a larger, integrated ecosystem.
Autoflow integrates ITSM, monitoring, automation, and network management capabilities, and connects seamlessly with vendor platforms from Juniper, Aruba, and Fortinet. This enables a number of concrete capabilities, such as live multi-source 360-degree dashboards, strongly integrated asset management, automated vulnerability management and remediation, and intelligent monitoring with context-aware alerting and escalation. The individual tools are not the focus; the value lies in how they work together.
From POC to production
After the POC phase, Xander Kanters joined Nomios. Together with the Managed Services team and the MSP team, he has since taken ownership of Autoflow. The focus shifted from experimentation to scaling, standardisation, and operational excellence.
The first customers have now been successfully migrated to Autoflow, and the results are very promising: higher levels of automation, shorter lead times, improved insights, and a consistently higher quality of service. These outcomes confirm that the original vision was the right one.
We have high expectations for Xander and his team and look forward to the new features and innovations that will be delivered in the coming months.
A concrete vision for the future
A good example of where Autoflow is heading is self-service change workflows. Through the service portal, customers can request changes to their infrastructure in a controlled and transparent way. The customer selects the relevant asset, chooses a predefined standard change, and provides a small number of required variables. This immediately triggers an automated workflow.
The workflow starts with an approval phase, ensuring that the right stakeholders review and approve the change. Once approved, the standard change can be executed via our network automation platform—either fully autonomously or with minimal engineer involvement. After successful execution, the customer automatically receives confirmation by email.
This is just one example of the potential of Autoflow: reducing manual effort, increasing speed and consistency, and giving customers more control while maintaining governance and quality. Autoflow is therefore not just a technology platform, but the result of collaboration, vision, and trust. And this is only the beginning.
